Spectacular (2011-2012)

Spectacular is a visual art project that consists of 11 wearable objects, videos, and a live performance. It combines traditional craft and garment construction techniques to produce objects that amplify sexualized body parts to the point of abstraction. It references imagery from both contemporary and nineteenth century visual culture. The face coverings reference historic (fabric covers) and contemporary (digital bars over eyes) methods of creating anonymity in images of the body.
